Zili is considered one of the oldest types of carpets woven in Nakhchivan. By the end of the Middle Ages, Nakhchivan carpets, distinguished by their bright colors, were already exported to European countries. In Nakhchivan, carpets were widely used in the household. Although Nakhchivan carpets are very similar in color and artistic features to Karabakh carpets, they differ in some features. Nakhchivan bells, woven using the technique of complex winding, are more perfect than "shadda" and "return" carpets.
